Software:
Nexus 6 will be running on Stock Android 5.0 Lollipop version with the new luxuries of the version. It will include project Volta, Material Design and other improved security measurements. Project Volta is designed for faster and longer battery recharge and standby. Similarly Material Design is the new way of designing the things in Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has emerged as great rending topic since the announcement at Google IO this year.
On the other side, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be powering the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat but it will be upgrade able to Android 5.0 Lollipop by the end of the year.
Design:
Galaxy Note 4 is smaller than the 159.3x83x10.1mm, 184g Nexus 6 in every dimension, and lighter too, measuring 153.5×78.6×8.5mm and weighing 176g. It should be said both are enormous smartphones, of course.
Both the Galaxy Note 4 and the Nexus 6 are to some degree swimming against the tide trying to compete with the iPhone. But Samsung has failed to improve upon the image of its Galaxy Note series in this department, and Google has already been commended for the efforts it has made with the Nexus 6.
Display
Being a pair of phablets, display tech is a crucial point for both devices here. Google has opted for a 5.96in AMOLED screen with a 2560×1440 pixel resolution at 493 pixels per inch (ppi). Needless to say with a 2K resolution the picture quality should be pretty damn flawless, while the use of OLED should ensure a punchy and colourful experience with good contrast. Samsung feature super-high-resolution Quad HD (2560×1440) displays. Samsung’s has the higher pixel density (515ppi vs 493ppi), but at this level you really won’t be able to tell – both will look amazing.

Gotta go with Nexus 6! The Note 4 would've been a solid contender if not for the TouchWiz interface.
For me the Nexus 6 would have been a contender if it had a removable battery and sd card slot as well as an IR blaster. Get it together next time Google and maybe you can earn my business.
Its not just specs...the s pen and included software give an experience the other phablets can't match and something spec wars can't account for.
I was expecting a Note 4 to Nexus 6 comparison. There are references to Apple twice and one to the Galaxy s5 randomly left in, most likely remnants from a copy and paste of previous comparisons. Very confusing.
"But Samsung has failed to improve upon the image of its Galaxy Note series in this department, and Google has already been commended for the efforts it has made with the Nexus 6."
I really don't understand how you can make this statement and having done research myself over the last few weeks I would say you are just making this up.
