Google Nexus 6 Vs. Samsung Galaxy Note 4

Well, we all know that Google has announced its new Nexus devices couple of weeks ago and from October 29th the pre orders are expected to go live in the US. Google has manufactured the Nexus 6 in corporation with the Motorola. Google has installed Android 5.0 Lollipop on the New Nexus device which is quite huge in the size as compared to the old ones. Even the price of this one is also much higher than the old variants of the Nexus family.

Earlier we have compared the device’s specs with some other flagship devices in the market. Today, we are going to compare it with the Samsung Galaxy Note 4, which was launched by Samsung couple of months ago and has got 4.5 Million sales within first month of its availability. So let’s brings the beasts in the ring and see who wins.

Hardware:

Google Nexus 6 is packed with 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core Krait 450 processor with 3GB RAM to fuel it up. To tackle with graphics Motorola has empowered it with Adreno 420 GPU, which is best Graphical Processing Units these days. On the other hand, Samsung galaxy Note 4 is powered with the same 2.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core Krait 450, 3GB RAM, Adreno 420 GPU. Here things are same on both sides.

Software:

Nexus 6 will be running on Stock Android 5.0 Lollipop version with the new luxuries of the version. It will include project Volta, Material Design and other improved security measurements. Project Volta is designed for faster and longer battery recharge and standby. Similarly Material Design is the new way of designing the things in Android 5.0 Lollipop. It has emerged as great rending topic since the announcement at Google IO this year.

On the other side, Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will be powering the Android 4.4.4 Kitkat but it will be upgrade able to Android 5.0 Lollipop by the end of the year.

Design:

Galaxy Note 4 is smaller than the 159.3x83x10.1mm, 184g Nexus 6 in every dimension, and lighter too, measuring 153.5×78.6×8.5mm and weighing 176g. It should be said both are enormous smartphones, of course.

Both the Galaxy Note 4 and the Nexus 6 are to some degree swimming against the tide trying to compete with the iPhone. But Samsung has failed to improve upon the image of its Galaxy Note series in this department, and Google has already been commended for the efforts it has made with the Nexus 6.

Display

Being a pair of phablets, display tech is a crucial point for both devices here. Google has opted for a 5.96in AMOLED screen with a 2560×1440 pixel resolution at 493 pixels per inch (ppi). Needless to say with a 2K resolution the picture quality should be pretty damn flawless, while the use of OLED should ensure a punchy and colourful experience with good contrast. Samsung feature super-high-resolution Quad HD (2560×1440) displays. Samsung’s has the higher pixel density (515ppi vs 493ppi), but at this level you really won’t be able to tell – both will look amazing.

Camera

In Nexus 6, team has fitted a 13-megapixel, 1/3.06” Sony IMX214 Exmor RS sensor (1.12 micron pixels) inside the Nexus 6, complete with optical image stabilization. There’s an f/2.0 aperture, 4K video capture and dual-LED flash on Nexus 6. On the front, New Nexus got a 2-megapixel selfie snapper, capable of 720p capture for the occasional video chat.

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has had a similarly hefty boost, up to a 16MP rating on one of Samsung’s ISOCELL BSI sensors, with an f/2.2 aperture, OIS, and 4K video. Samsung have got 3.7-megapixel camera that can do 1080p video.

Other Features:

The Galaxy Note 4 only comes in one storage flavour and that’s 32GB onboard with microSD support for cards up to 128GB. Meanwhile, Google’s Nexus 6 doesn’t take SD cards but does have both 32GB and 64GB onboard options. Both phablets feature 3220mAh batteries that support fast charging. Google says you can get six hours of use from a 15-minute charge on the Nexus 6, while Samsung claims a 50 percent charge is possible in half an hour on the Note 4.

The Galaxy Note 4 includes the latest communication technology with category 6 4G LTE at 300 Mbps downstream and 50 Mbps upstream. There’s control for digital TV using DLNA. Bluetooth 4.1 is included. NFC is also present to make instant payments.

The Nexus 6 will probably also have category 6, 4G LTE radio in order to provide the fastest 4G LTE options. There’s Bluetooth, DLNA and NFC versions will most likely match the ones included with the Galaxy Note 4.

  • Gotta go with Nexus 6! The Note 4 would've been a solid contender if not for the TouchWiz interface.

    • For me the Nexus 6 would have been a contender if it had a removable battery and sd card slot as well as an IR blaster. Get it together next time Google and maybe you can earn my business.

  • Its not just specs...the s pen and included software give an experience the other phablets can't match and something spec wars can't account for.

  • I was expecting a Note 4 to Nexus 6 comparison. There are references to Apple twice and one to the Galaxy s5 randomly left in, most likely remnants from a copy and paste of previous comparisons. Very confusing.

  • "But Samsung has failed to improve upon the image of its Galaxy Note series in this department, and Google has already been commended for the efforts it has made with the Nexus 6."

I really don't understand how you can make this statement and having done research myself over the last few weeks I would say you are just making this up.
