As the name suggests, “Locked Folder” will allow users to hide their photos and videos in Google Photos. This folder will be protected via a password and will not show if the user is scrolling the gallery on their smartphone.
As Google’s protocol, the feature will be initially available to the Pixel users while other Android smartphones will receive the new features later on. In fact, Pixel users will also be able to store media in the locked folder directly from the camera app.
Talking about the enhanced Memory functions, the user can customize how they want to view their Memories. The users will be able to hide any picture of selected people or time, giving more easier control. Plus, they will be able to rename or remove any single image or the entire highlight folder or memory.
Moreover, Google Photos will also identify a set of three or more images with similar shapes or colors and create a highlight of them in the Memories tab. Additionally, the users will also be able to see the event pictures say, Diwali, Christmas, or New year while scrolling through the gallery. These photos will be accompanied by “Best of the Month” and “Trip Highlights” memories.
Furthermore, Google Photos will use computational photography to create more vivid 3D-like effects in the New Cinematic Photos. The company can also use machine learning to create Cinematic photos, using scans from an old photo album.
