Google Home gets a feature-rich redesign and becomes WearOS and Web compatible

Google Home is getting a major update in terms of design and features. To bring in compatibility for the new Nest and Pixel devices and further improve the integration with the previous devices, Google brings a whole new Google Home. Google is adding new routines, conditions and actions to make more complex routines in the easiest possible way.

The users can create time-specific routines which will toggle the services as set with just a single Tap. For Eg, the users can create Safety Routine for the nighttime or if you’re away. It will arm your security cameras after locking all the front and rear doors. Similarly, the user can set up a convenient Routine, Energy Saving Routine or fun party Routine.

Personal and Household Routines

Google added the ability to set up individual routines which will only be accessed by the creator. However, the user can also create Household Routines also that will be accessible by all.

With the new update, Google has made the Routines easily accessible and maintainable for the users. Now, routines mainly consist of three parts – Starters + Conditions + Actions. It is better to have a look at the table below for an easy understanding:

UI Redesign

As shown at the Google IO 2022, Google is bringing the new Home app design. There are several changes that will let easily control the whole home. The redesign brings 5 new tab layouts – Favourites, Devices, Automation, Activity, and Settings.

The major ability of the new User Interface are Rapid pair, all customization and personalization under the Favourites tab, Improved camera experience, enhanced Home integration and availability of the Home experience on WearOS and the Web Interface.

Script Editor

For the advanced users, Google is bringing Script Editor, which will bring 100 new features and capabilities. It will be made available next year.

The new Google Home app update will get a broader rollout in the next couple of weeks. However, make sure to check Pixel 7 and Pixel Watch leaks as both are set to launch on October 6.
