Google has launched its new Google Fit app and it is now available in the Play Store. Google I/O, has left the developer labs and is now a bonafide Apple Health rival. Google Fit Android app that tracks steps and plugs into wearables and other fitness apps.
The app, which connects to your existing Google account, functions as a central dashboard for tracking fitness and health goals. Google’s director of product management for Android, Sabrina Ellis, said in a blog post, “You can connect your favorite fitness devices and apps like Strava, Withings, Runtastic, Runkeeper and Noom Coach to Google Fit and we’ll surface all of the relevant data in one spot, giving you a clear and complete view of your fitness.”
Google’s Fit app first appeared in a very basic form built into Google’s Android Wear smartwatches such as the Motorola Moto 360, LG G Watch and Samsung Gear Live. The 13MB app is compatible with devices running Android 4.0 or higher.
