Google Contacts is the default contact app in most of the Android smartphones. And Google has been adding new features and functionalities to the app since the beginning. Recently, the app hit a new version 2.7 with some bug fixes. However, a teardown by Android Police revealed some new features which may be activated in the next update.
The upcoming features revealed by the teardown include a new home screen widget and name suggestions based on Google Maps and corporate directory.
Googe Contacts already offers three 1×1 widgets to call, message or view details of a contact respectively. But now, it seems a new widget will be activated in the coming update based on the findings. This widget will be known as “Contact List” which will display a list of contacts in the form of photo icons with a dark grey background (pictured above).
First of all, the cleanup wizard is getting a new bigger graphic than beofre which includes a broom, a dustpan and dust clouds. The cleanup wizard helps in adding details to a contact from Gmail, merging contacts via suggestions. And now, the teardown reveals that it will also suggest missing names to contacts.
This will be possible based on other information like addresses from Google Maps, Google Profile, and corporate directory.
The above-mentioned features are still not available to the public but will be activated sooner or later.
