Google Assistant just got hold of some additional capabilities that allows you to book your movie tickets using your voice or typing in your request. In order to add this functionality, Google has teamed up with Fandango, an American ticketing company.
If you’re not sure which movie you’re going to watch, simply say, ‘Showtimes near me’ and Google will bring you a list of films playing at theatres near you. In order to find out more about the film, you can ask ‘Who stars in it?’. If you already know which movie you’re going to see, just say ‘Buy tickets,’ OR ‘Hey Google, get me tickets for…’ and Google Assistant will get the job done in a spry.
If you’re a first time user, you must agree to Fandango’s Terms and Conditions of Service. Google Assistant will then ask you to confirm your order and once approved, the transaction can be completed using Google Pay.
As per Lilian Rincon, Product Management Director, Google Assistant, “Fandango is synonymous with movie-going innovation, and was the perfect fit as we look to make it easier for people to get things done in their everyday lives with help from the Google Assistant. The launch couldn’t come at a better time as we head into a very exciting summer movie season packed with movies for everyone.”
This feature is already available on Apple’s Siri. Once and for all, this functionality is finally available for Android users. Google Assistant‘s new feature debuted on the Android version of the app and will be available for iOS users later this year.
