The Google app has received a cool new feature that allows video searches from the app to be auto-played. The new feature seems to be a server-side update as pointed out by Android Police. It is not a downloadable update, you need do nothing in order to get this update. Also, it seems to be there for very old devices as well. As coupled with that you’ll find a “Video” section in the settings menu of the app.
Furthermore, the feature seems to work only for movie trailers and that too not completely. Google’s new feature is not really ready as we stared at a how-to video but it didn’t played.
If you do want to see the feature live in action, open the app and pull up a search for “Justice League,” or “Transformers The Last Knight. You’ll find the video that too a auto playing video. Also, the video might not playback for everyone as currently the feature s also on a roll.
The playback doesn’t occur for all movie searches as well. Apparently, Google hasn’t added this feature to some of the movies. For example, the video doesn’t show up for “Spider-Man Homecoming”. Well, It should work for all the movies but Google will have to tweak the Knowledge Graph for those videos to appear.
If you are not too enthusiastic about the change, you can turn off autoplay from the app’s settings.
