Google has been providing various paying options for many years now. The list includes Google Wallet, Android Pay and Chrome auto fill payment info. But, from now all these will be unified into single name – Google Pay. Google took to their blog to announce this new change. However, many users started reporting it few days back when they noticed Google Pay in Tap and Pay system settings.
Google says that in the coming weeks, the Google Pay will be widely rolled out online as well as offline stores. Which means the stores that accepted Android Pay will now be re branded to Google Pay. Some websites and apps such as Airbnb, Dice, Fandango, HungryHouse, Instacart, and others are already updated with Google Pay. Also, Google is providing some offers to save money while paying through Google Pay.
As said earlier, this new branding is already rolling out to many users. Thus, it will be everywhere by next week. In case you do not remember, Google was first to introduce payments using smartphones through NFC. It was first known as Google Wallet, then got changed to Android Pay and now finally Google Pay.
