Google has added a new feature to the Play Store on Android O. Though the change is minor, for users who are frequent visitors of the Google Play Store, this update might be useful for them. Google has just added Notification Channels to its online marketplace.
So, after the update, the Play Store can notify you about four things differently. Users can select whether to be notified of Updates, Auto-Updates, Pre-Registration and Deals and Promotions. Further, granular controls mean users have utmost freedom.
There are five more channels that users can set to their liking. They are Security and Maintenance, updated Apps, App Updates Available, Account Alerts, and High Priority. There is the option to deactivate the notification dots as well.
Some users have said that Google has been taking things too far with Notification Channels by adding lots of channels. And it does kind of seem true with the Google Play Store. But this not may be the case with everyone as everyone has different use case.
Most Google native apps have received Notification Channels as Android O is around the corner. Although Google + Inbox and Hangouts are still to get them.
