Samsung has released the April 2021 security patch to a handful of Galaxy devices in the month, and it is now making way to the Galaxy Tab S5e. This is the second update for the smartphone this month after it grabbed the Android 11 with One UI 3.1 skin on top.
At present, the current security maintenance is limited to the LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab S5e with model number SM-T725. Also, it is rolling out to selected markets where the device has not yet received the latest stable Android channel.
The latest build for the Galaxy Tab S5e arrives on firmware version T725XXS2CUD1, which still based on Android 10. It is currently live in Brazil and Mexico and should begin rolling out in other markets in the next few days.
This is a minor bump in safety level and does not mention any new features or changes in favour of user experience. However, internally the fresh software update protects the smartphone from 21 exposures and vulnerabilities from various potential attack vectors. Also, it brings fixes for various vulnerabilities, including 30 that Google term as severe or critical.
The OTA update is being rolled out in a staged manner, so it will take a short time to hit your tabs. If you are a Galaxy Tab S5e user in Brazil or Mexico, hold on! or you can flash the April security update directly via the Settings app > Software update, tap on Download and install.
Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S5e in Feb 2019 with Android 9 (Pie). It powers Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Moving to the shooting section, the phone houses a rear 13MP lens and an 8MP front snapper. It packs a 7040 mAh battery 18W of fast charging support.
