Two Samsung devices are now getting the latest(for the time-being let it be so) security patch. And, they’re Galaxy Tab Active 2 and 2016 iteration of Galaxy J5. Obviously, an April patch won’t be necessarily making the Galaxy Tab Active 2 users happy. Since, they’re expecting a major update in the form of Android Oreo 8.0. Unfortunately it’s something that this update doesn’t board and leaves the device to Android 7.1.1 itself. Nevertheless, let’s see whether the device is destined to taste the Oreo anytime soon or not.
This Samsung budget device is in good book of Security Researchers – Karsten Nohl and Jakob Lell from Security Research Labs, who’d recently conducted a study regarding the “patch-gap” introduced in Android devices. Well, let’s Keep that aside and dwell right into the update.
The Galaxy J5 (2016) update arrives in at around 260MB in size and is hitting Indian Galaxy J5 with model no. SM-J510FN. As earlier mentioned, the update brings April security patch and do squashes some bugs. Unfortunately, no new features are being added, but Samsung has updated some system apps.
In case if you haven’t updated to latest version yet. The time has arrived to hit the Software update section to be rest assured that you’re safe from latest vulnerabilities and exposures that affect your device.
