Samsung is now rolling out Android Nougat 7.1.1 to the 2016 iteration of Galaxy J5. By this, nearly an year long wait of the budget-friendly Galaxy J5 (2016) users have finally come to an (happy) end. According to some sources, the major OTA update for the device is being rolled out in Poland and certain other regions in Europe.
Better Late Than Never
While Galaxy J5 (2016)’s larger sibling – the Galaxy J7 (2016) had already received the Nougat update nearly two months ago. Apparently, the Nougat treat for Galaxy J5 (2016) is in deed too late. However, it’s worth noting that the update being late came with latest features. That is, the latest Samsung Experience 8.5 is packed along with the Nougat 7.1.1. The UX which isn’t currently worn by any other major Samsung flagships other than Galaxy Note 8.
If we dig a little deep into the SE 8.5 skin. The UX brings Samsung Cloud integration, revamped device manager, and support to zoom-in using the shutter button in camera app and many other exclusive new features to the Galaxy J5. Moreover, the SE 8.5 is beleived to be more fluid and smooth than any other previous Touchwiz skin by the firm.
The update being gradually rolling-out, it should take some time to automatically reach your Galaxy J5 (2016). But if you want to check for it manually, head over to Settings, then About Device, and then select Download Updates Manually.
