Fingerprint Functionality Surfaces For Android M

Google has confirmed that the new version of its operating system, dubbed Android M. It will allow users to unlock devices and protect information using just their fingerprint. Also you can pay with Android by unlocking the lock screen by using the fingerprint sensor on the top of it.

It will allow users to quickly complete transactions using Android Pay as well as while unlocking the phone. The company says that fingerprint scanning will work with third-party apps as well. Google is integrating the fingerprint sensor into the Android lock screen, and it will be used to authorize payments through Android Pay NFC and for purchasing apps in Google Play.

A slew of companies, including Microsoft, Apple, and Samsung have all integrated biometric fingerprint-sensing technology into their devices in one way or another. Google’s addition means support for fingerprint technology across all of Android M.

At the event, Sundar Pichai, the head of Chrome, Android, and Apps at Google also shared several interesting facts. “Eight out of ten smartphones that were shipped last year were based on Android,” he said.
