We just saw the Live Location sharing feature make it’s way to the wannabe WhatsApp service, Telegram. Now, WhatsApp just added the feature too. Live location sharing is a bit different from simple location sharing. It allows you to share where you are for a particular period of time and then make it disappear.
The new feature became mainstream in March when Google Maps added it, soon to be followed by other social media giants like Facebook Messenger. And since other IM’s are adding it, WhatsApp should have it too. WhatsApp disclosed in a blog post that the feature will roll out to Android and iOS “in the coming weeks.”
Each person in the chat will be able to see your real-time location on a map.” said the blog post. The feature is also encrypted like messages and you can be sure there is no safety issue in using the new feature.
