Google released the first developer preview of the next Android flavor now temporarily codenamed as P, couple of days ago. As usual, the DP1 or else the alpha build is exclusive for Pixel devices. And, bundles much improvements and more security to the Android ecosystem than the previous releases. But that doesn’t stop the well-known recognized XDA developer, Topjohnwu and its miraculous product, Magisk to access root on the Android P. You can download latest Magisk manager from the Download section below.
The latest Magisk Manager v5.6.2 is now released with all its glory and, to much surprise supports the Android P. Literally the Pixel users on initial DP can gain access to root by flashing the latest beta Magisk 16.1. Within which the new v5.6.2 of Magisk Manager is bundled.
Changelogs of the Magisk beta v16.1 and its bundled Magisk Manager v5.6.2 are as follows:
Keep in mind that the Magisk v16.1 is beta and as a result “is built with the debug flag enabled. Hence it will do a lot of verbose logging”.Thereby, we recommend you to go for the latest stable Magisk version, i.e 16.0, provided you’ve a device running Android Oreo 8.1 or below.
Moreover, some users have reported issue with installation of Magisk Modules on Pixel devices running Android P. But, that is not a serious issue as long as it doesn’t affect the root access. Probably, in coming beta releases the issue will be fixed for all those who are a fan of Magisk Customization Modules.
