WhatsApp is due for some big updates by next year. We’re going to soon see it double up as a payments service soon. Apart from that, the current messaging services will also be getting an abundance of new features. Some of them will improve group controls. Another interesting feature that has been found last week is switching between voice and video calls.
The feature has not made it to the stable build yet but beta users will see it. WABetaInfo reported the feature will enable users to jump over to video calling directly from voice. There will be no need to initiate a new call for video. Further, users on another side of the call can reject the requested switch. The feature can be found in version 2.17.163 first on Android. Windows Phone and iOS are next in line.
Other related features under testing are the ability to mute video calls, and group voice/video calls. This has been reported on iPhone. However, it is unlikely to be seen until next year.
If you want to try these features you have to enroll into the Beta Program. Moreover, you have to download the latest WhatsApp beta v2.17.163 version from Play Store.
