After several leaks and rumours, MediaTek finally unveiled its new generation SoC – MediaTek Dimensity 9200. It is expected to compete against the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC which is scheduled for launch on October 14-15 at the Qualcomm summit. The recent benchmark even ranks it better than the Apple A16 Bionic in terms of Graphics performance.

CPU
MediaTek Dimensity 9200 offers increased performance and efficiency for both the CPU and the GPU. The new chipset is built on TSMC’s 2nd generation 4nm process and houses a 1+3+4 cores configuration. The chipset features an Arm Cortex X3 performance core at 3.05 GHz, 3x Arm Cortex-A715 Cores at 2.85GHz and 4x Arm Cortex-A510 cores with a clocking speed of 1.8GHz.
GPU
The new chipset houses an ARM Immortalis-G715 GPU which offers VRS-improved machine learning, and the use of ARM Fixed Rate Compression for reduced bandwidth usage.
MediaTek claims a 25% performance improvement for the Cortex-X3 over its predecessor. Overall, the whole chipset offers an improvement of 12% on single-core and 10% on multi-core chipsets. It is 25% more efficient than its predecessor – The Dimensity 9000 SoC.
A major improvement exists in the GPU, the new ARM Immortalis-G715 GPU offers 32% performance improvement over the Dimesnty 9000 GPU and is 41% more efficient.
ISP and Modem
MediaTek Dimensity 9200 offers support for up to 240Hz Full HD+ displays, with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 5K display at 60Hz.
Furthermore, there’s an improved Modem which will offer support for WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2. The Imagic 890 ISP brings support for RGBW camera sensors and can support up to 200MP sensors. The chipset offers 4K video recording at 60FPS and 8K 30fps videos with EIS support.
Vivo is expected to launch Vivo X90 featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 in the coming few days.
