In deed, the new-gen smartphone displays are more exposed to the external atmosphere than ever before. With over 94% screen-to-body, smartphones are nowadays elegant and provides much screen real estate. But, since good things are mostly achieved as a result of certain compromises, the durability of displays are in uncertainty of these so-called bezel-less devices cause glasses are crack-prone.
Gorilla Glass 6 features:
To bolster the new-gen devices, the renowned glass engineering firm – Corning has come up with their new & improved Gorilla Glass 6. Lab tests signified that the Gorilla Glass 6 survived 15 drops from 1 meter onto rough surfaces, and is up to two times better than Gorilla Glass 5. Under the same test conditions, competitive glass compositions, such as soda lime and aluminosilicate, did not survive the first drop.
For the past decades, Corning has been the key-player when it comes to display glass manufacturing. As you very well know, its Gorilla Glasses are prolific for their hardness and durability with the Gorilla Glass 5 being the latest(not anymore) to feature on almost all current major devices. Well, the new Gorilla Glass 6 comes as a direct successor to the 5th edition with further improved durability and strength.
Gorilla Glass 6 is an entirely new glass composition that can be chemically strengthened to give it significantly higher levels of compression than is possible with Gorilla Glass 5. This enables Gorilla Glass 6 to be more resistant to damage.

It’s said that, the new Gorilla Glass 6 is build of a new material capable of withstanding multiple drops or impacts. Since the displays are the important component that a smartphone user interact most often, it’s more prone to get damaged. Hence, a strong Glasses are a necessity, especially for the current aggressively designed phones. And, let us hope the upcoming new devices with Gorilla Glass 6 won’t let us down when we drop our beloved gadgets multiple times.
