Android Nougat 7.1.1 update hitting Snapdragon 410 powered Moto G4 Play

Amid a lots of hiccups and uncertainty on the way, finally it’s here. The Moto G4 Play users can now sigh as the much-awaited ‘stable’ Android Nougat update is being rolled-out to their device. Consequently, Lenovo owned Motorola has now become the OEM other than Samsung which’d seeded Nougat update to at least one Snapdragon 410 powered device.

Similar to what the Samsung has did to its SD 410 powered devices such as Galaxy J5(2016) and Galaxy Tab A, Motorola is also pushing Nougat 7.1.1 to the Moto G4 Play and not the Nougat 7.0. Basically, the Vulcan API support will be absent in these devices running Nougat. Since the Qualcomm hasn’t provided the graphics driver necessary for implementing Vulcan in SD 410 chipset.

The OTA update also elevates the security patch level of device to November. Moreover, the Nougat 7.1.1 brings a bunch of new features and enhancements to the Moto G4 Play. Such as faster app installation, Split-Screen support, Seamless update capability, new UI and many more goodies.

As per the source, it seems the update is currently hitting only a few handsets. That means, the company might be now running a soak test prior to the wider roll-out. Hence, need not panic if your Moto G4 Play hasn’t shown any sign of the new update, since it’ll take a while to reach the every units.
