Android Beta Feedback App update hinting at Android 12 Developer Preview launch

To elucidate first, Android Beta Feedback app is developed by Google in 2019 with Android 10/Q for users convenience to report bugs without visiting the bug tracker website. It automatically appears when the user installs the “Developer Preview“.

Regarding Developer preview, it is a public program for developers which provides early access to unreleased features or Android Iteration. This allows them to explore and test upcoming features for apps and further report bugs via the Android Beta Feedback app.

The feedback application is currently not within the reach of developers. It states “Thank you for participating in the Android Beta Program. The program has concluded and at this time we are no longer accepting feedback via the app.” However, those who did not uninstall the app since Android 11 DP are getting an update version of 2.15 from 2.11 introducing new features to boost assessment. If we look precisely at last year’s introduction to Developer Preview of Android 11, this might be a yellow-light for Android 12 Developer Preview.

Reportedly about Android 12:

  • Google is working to bring enhanced theme system which will enable user to recolor supported apps. There’s a fascinating fact about Android 12, that it may be able to choose colours automatically based on users current wallpaper.
  • Android 12 will enable ‘Columbus’ double tap gesture for Pixels. It means by double tapping to the back of phone, you’ll be able to perform some mini functions such as: Activate the Google Assistant, Take a screenshot, Pause/resume media playback, Open the notification shade or Open the recent apps view.
  • It will introduce new feature called “App Pairs” where the system will group two apps together as single task.
  • Android 12 will be able to hibernate apps i.e: if user is not actively using any application, it will equipoise those apps releasing some storage space.
