The much-awaited Android O finally arrives as Android 8.0 Oreo. With several developer preview releases in the past few weeks and months, we have a basic idea of what exactly Android 8.0 Oreo has in store for the users. If you are really excited about the all-new Android Oreo and want to experience it right away, you just need to own a compatible device and an unlocked bootloader.
Android 8.0 source code is being pushed to Android Open Source Project (AOSP). As expected, OTAs will initially begin to roll out for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C, and Nexus Player devices. The system images for the above devices are now available on Google’s Dev website. The website lists a couple of variants for Pixel devices though. If you’ve got a Pixel handset, you would need to look for the one listed for your carrier.
Furthermore, all the devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program will also be upgraded to these final builds in a short span of time. If you can’t wait for the OTA roll-out to begin, which may take few days to reach your device, you can always download the system images from the Android Developers website.
If you are planning to update any of the compatible device, you should always make sure to back up your data. Also, before attempting to update your device, you should have a fair idea about how to install these system images on your smartphone. If you face any issues installing the system images, you must wait for the OTA update to arrive.
