Google just released their Android 12 Developer Preview 3. According to Google’s schedule, this should be the final Developer Preview for Android 12. The Beta update for Android 12 should be arriving next month.
Google has made some major changes in UI compared to Developer Preview 2. Rounded corners are present everywhere in the UI, and even in the recent menu screen. The home screen menu is now in a partitioned manner and with rounded corners. The same roundness is visible in the volume UI and the widgets. Android 12 widget’s menu is redesigned now as it houses a search bar and a suggestion bar for widgets. Furthermore, it provides categories for each app now, namely Shortcuts and Widgets.
Other major changes include the Settings menu, which has received a new design and is inspired by Samsung’s One UI. It comes with a larger font now and the battery, storage presentation is much simpler now. The bounce animation in the Settings menu has improved now.
The wallpaper selection, lock screen media artwork also possess roundness. Font for “At a Glance” is bolder now and the scaling box for widgets matches the accent colour.
Irrespective of the theme you selected, the boot screen for the device will be in dark mode now. The screenshot editing menu has added some new fonts and removed the ability to add stickers.
There are many other changes under the hood, but these were the visible ones. To experience the new UI you can try out the new Developer Preview. However, it is advised to use it on a secondary device only, as it is not completely ready for daily use.
