OPPO has recently launched several devices in the Reno 6 series in India. Reports were suggesting that the brand is working on the upcoming Oppo Reno 7 series. A popular Chinese tipster has revealed more information about the device through a Weibo post. According to Digital Chat Station, the forthcoming OPPO Reno 7 Pro will feature the 50 MP Sony IMX 766 sensor.
The Reno 7 Pro will have the model number PFDM00 and was revealed through the MIT listing. There are reports that the Reno 7 Pro would be the device that the brand is co-developing with Kodak. According to the news, OPPO will use two 50MP Sony IMX 766 sensors in the device which they are developing with Kodak. So, the second 50MP sensor is likely to be the ultra-wide-angle sensor. It will be similar to that of the flagship OPPO Find X3 Pro. The tipster also added the brand would use the 50 MP sensor in the standard Reno 7. The sensor has a size of 1/1.56”, 1.0 µm native pixels, 4-in-1 pixel binning, and supports DOL-HDR All-Pixel autofocus.
The Chinese blogger also said that the device would come with significantly improved camera performance over its predecessor. As you can see from the specifications, the upcoming device has a major improvement over the Oppo Reno 6 that uses an OmniVision OV64B sensor. OPPO has already used the Sony IMX766 sensor in the Find X3 series, Reno 6 Pro (Snapdragon variant) and 6 Pro +, the OnePlus 9 series, and the OnePlus Nord 2.
Finally, the Reno 7 series would sport a metal frame and punch hole to the left. However, the brand is silent on the launch date for the Reno 7 series. Since the OPPO Reno 5 series was unveiled in January 2021, there are chances for the OPPO Reno 7 series to launch in the upcoming January.
