The race for under display fingerprint sensors and bezel-less displays is getting hotter day by day. And now, HMD Global, the company behind Nokia branded smartphones is joining this bandwagon too. According to reports, the Finnish smartphone maker has been developing a device codenamed Nokia A1 Plus with under display fingerprint sensor.
The report says the development of this upcoming smartphone has been delayed due to the slowness of under display fingerprint sensor. But, they have now solved that issue by using thinner display glass. And again, HMD Global will be going for POLED displays by LG for this upcoming smartphone like the Nokia 8 Sirocco. In case you are not aware of, under display fingerprint sensors require OLED displays to work. Also, the company faced difficulties while developing cameras but the details about it are not available.
As for CPU, the upcoming Nokia flagship smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 like any other high-end smartphones this year. Though the device is being called A1 Plus, A1P and A1N internally, it might end up as Nokia 9 globally. Last but not least, it might run Android 9.0 P out of the box. It is expected to be announced at IFA 2018 in a couple of months.
