We’re inching closer to the day when the world’s largest mobile showcasing event, the MWC 2018 commence with its charm. Most of the smartphone technology giants will be taking this auspicious occasion as a suitable time and place for introducing their new product(s) to the world. If the newly sourced Geekbench data is to be believed, MediaTek has got a new chipset, probably dubbed as the Helio P60 ready for showcasing at the event.
Mostly, it’s a routine for Silicon manufacturers to test their new SoC performance on third-pirty benchmarking platform ahead of its launch. They make use of an unreleased standard device commonly known as referrence device to carry out the test on the SoC in consideration. Looks like the Taiwanese firm had the same using a reference device with model name, MTK P60 MWC Demo as per the Geekbench.
The SoC which seems to be nearly synonymous to Snapdragon 660 Mobile Platform has acheived a single-core score of 1524. At the same time, the multi-core testing has yielded a score upto 5871. Frankly speaking, not at all a bad numbers for the SoC clocked at 1.99GHz.
Obviously, the Octa-Core Helio P60 will fabricates ARM’s big. LITTLE architecture which we think could be a two cluster of 4×high-performance cores(either Kryo or Cortex) and 4×low-performance cores. Unfortunately, processors names are not shown in the database.
It’s worth noting here the basic details of the referrence device(MTK P60 MWC Demo) used for the commit. The Geekbench reveals it as a 4GB RAM device. Interestingly enough, the device is running the very latest Android Oreo 8.1 while carrying out the test. If you’re wondering which device is that, don’t be so excited because highly likely it won’t ever reach the consumers end. Manufacturers keep them solely for internal testing purpose and are experimental.
Nevertheless, complete internal details of the Helio P60 will be out once the Taiwanese SoC designer unveils it at MWC 2018.
