While OnePlus is slowly recovering from the previous reputation tarnishing benchmark scandal. The newly popped-up severe security breach in its payment portal has put the firm once again in trouble. However, it seems the firm is now investigating the matter thoroughly to know what exactly had gone wrong.
The issue was made wide spread, when multiple users reported suspicious activity using their credit cards details, which they’ve once used to purchase products from OnePlus website. Users affected by this security breach have registered their grievances on Reddit, Twitter, OnePlus Forums and other social media sites.
“Information security is a very serious topic, and it has always been one of our top priorities,”
-OnePlus
Meanwhile, an analysis conducted by security firm, Fidus warns about the existence of a brief window “through which malicious code is able to siphon credit card details before the data is encrypted on site’s payment gateway.” If that’s the case, then OnePlus ought to implement necessary precautions immediately to patch the loop hole.
Well, as of now there is no solid proof whether the OnePlus website is hacked or the company itself did a breach. Whatever may be the reason, to be in safer side it’d be better not to initiate any transaction in OnePlus portal until the issue gets resolved. Or else, if you’re already a victim of the phishing, immediately contact your bank to reverse the fraudulent payments, if any.
