After pushing the latest December patch to Xperia XZ, XZs, and X Performance nearly a week ago. Today, Sony is extending the latest security patch protection for three more devices. The Sony Xperia XZ Premium, XZ1 and XZ1 Compact are the devices now entitled to receive this month’s SMR over-the-air.
The build number of the firmware updates for the three of them are same and is 47.1.A.8.49. Apart from the latest patch, the updates, as usual, fixes minor bugs and brings performance improvement to the devices. Well, there won’t be any question of major update as the handsets are already running the latest Android Oreo 8.0.
If we dig into the December patch, in fact, there is no such infamous exploits or vulnerabilities being fixed. Since, the much hyped BlueBorne and KRACK exploits were already fixed in previous SMR’s. By the way, the latest updates for the aforementioned devices are taking a round gradually. Hence, it’d take a while before the updates reach the all devices.
