Following the Nougat updates for Snapdragon 410 powered Galaxy Tab A 9.7 and Galaxy Tab E. It seems, Galaxy J5 (2016) would be the next in pipeline to get Nougat treat from Samsung. According to the latest Roadmap from Samsung Turkey, the 2016 iteration of J5 running Nougat has now entered into testing phase. Which means, the Nougat update for the device is on the horizon.
The Roadmap assigns an ETA of update for the J5 (2016) on 13th November in Turkey region. However, certain European Countries that test the firmware, usually gets the update earlier than the pilot region such as Turkey. But, in case of J-series, especially the J5 models, the major updates starts taking a round first in India. Evidently, the J5 Prime Nougat 7.0 update that started rolling out in India yesterday, consolidates the above fact.
Anyway, coming back to the list. Apparently, Samsung has silently removed the Galaxy On 7 from the list. And this possibility, we have already pointed out in the previous article related to Samsung Nougat Roadmap. Consequently, the Galaxy On7 is the latest to experience the similar fate of 2015 models of Galaxy J5 and J7.
Nevertheless, Samsung has so far exhibited a decent software support for its devices by seeding Nougat updates as well as timely security patches. Moreover, the firm has also initiated the development of the Android Oreo 8.0 firmware flavoured by Samsung Experience.
