A bunch of images for the Gionee mid-range smartphone, the S10 have again appeared on Weibo. And the images do reveal all design aspects clearly. Recently, we have seen some variants of the S10 pass TENAA as well. The image leaks come at a time when we are just 3 days close the official launch of the mid-ranger.
Looking at the images, especially the back, we can’t help but notice the uncanny resemblance to the Apple iPhone 7. Now, this is not the first time a Chinese company has taken cues from Apple, but this one is unapologetically staring you in the face. The horizontal position of the camera, the placement at the top left corner, even the antenna lines. Let’s just say it. It’s a rip-off. The only thing that distinguishes the Gionee S10 design is the Gionee logo at the back.
Coming to other images, we have a front with a home button at the bottom which doubles as a fingerprint scanner. The bezels are also there and we can see a single front facing camera.
Specs-wise the device packs quite a punch but whether the S10 will be able to deliver that punch will largely depend on the pricing.
The phone has a 5.5-inch Full HD screen. Under the hood, we have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. There are conflicting reports regarding the processor. Some reports say the MediaTek MT6755 SoC will power the Gionee S10. And some suggest a Helio P25/Snapdragon 435 chipse to power the device. Experts have also suggested that Gionee might launch an S10 Plus along with the S10, so it is quite possible that the S10 Plus ends up with the better SoC between the two.
The Gionee S10 will succeed the S9 and Gionee wants some buyers even if that means they have to take cues from Apple. We have also seen the S10 in Green, Gold, and Blue colour. Rumours have also pointed to a single camera variant of the S10 which passed TENAA some time ago.
