Amazon India is displaying a message that they are disabling Cash on Delivery option totally. This decision is taken because Indian Government has discontinued the high denomination currency notes of ₹1000 and ₹500.
Flipkart and Snapdeal also limiting this COD option by offering it on select products. For instance, Flipkart and Shopclues are enabling cash payments for orders less than Rs1,000, while Snapdeal has limited cash transactions to Rs2,000. Uber drivers also will not accept Rs 500 or Rs 1000 notes as payments. BigBasket’s also says they will accept cash payments, but not in Rs500 and Rs1,000 denominations.
Although the ban on the currency will help to stop black money and fake notes in the market, But in meantime it is very difficult for people to perform cash transactions.
