Post Google’s June 30 announcement that the newest version of its Android OS will be called Nougat, the buzz in tech circles has been around when the latest version will hit devices.
Google had announced at I/O 2016 that the final Android Nougat would be ready later in the summer. Currently, the OS is on its fourth developer preview stage with official release expected around fall.
As always, the Nexus is expected to be the first to get the newest OS update, followed by other devices. According to a report in Know Your Mobile, the developer preview 5 will be done this month, and it is most likely that the Nexus will get the update by August or September.
Based on a September release for Nexus, and the time taken for past versions to reach Samsung devices, the site predicts that Android Nougat will be available to Samsung Galaxy S7 users in the first quarter of 2017.
