Microsoft Acquires Swiftkey for $250 Million

Microsoft confirms the Swiftkey acquisition but price is not out in public. Through some sources and reports on all around the web the Microsoft acquires Swiftkey for $250 million.

“In this cloud-first, mobile-first world, SwiftKey’s technology aligns with our vision for more personal computing experiences that anticipate our needs versus responding to our commands, and directly supports our ambition to reinvent productivity by leveraging the intelligent cloud,” Harry Shum, EVP of technology and research, said in a blog post

Earlier SwiftKey announced a $17.5 million funding round in 2013. Investors include Accel Partners, Index Ventures, and Octopus Investments. The company started in 2008 and had offices in London, San Francisco, and Seoul. For a reminder SwiftKey is installed on 300 million mobile devices, and it supports 89 languages, according to the company’s website. OnePlus, Samsung, and Xiaomi have partnered with SwiftKey in the past.
