On Monday, Google has released new Android Lollipop release, version 5.1, which consists a lot of new changes which are small and big. Number wise there are around 14,686 changes in the latest Android build.
Android 5.1 is the much refined version of the Android 5.0 and soonly, we are expecting that we will get this update on most of the flagship devices. Along with the above many changes there’s also a new API on the Android 5.1 Lollipop has been confirmed that allows carrier provisioning.
Wifi access points and Bluetooth devices with the new dropdown arrows next to these settings. Also silent mode is there now, earlier, volume only offered vibrate mode and there was no silent mode present. HD Voice And Dual SIM support is also there. In Android 5.0 screen pinning was there but was not easily accessible. In Android 5.1 Google has made it accessible easily. Also, Android 5.1 Lollipop also provides enhancements such as the ability to join Wi-Fi networks and control of your paired Bluetooth devices directly from Quick Settings.
In Android 5.1 Carriers can “create apps that can perform carrier provisioning tasks on an Android device.” The Mountain View giant explains the new API on its Android 5.1 APIs page on developer website and notes, “These APIs provide a secure and flexible way for carrier-developed apps to perform these tasks and be distributed through Google Play.”
