17 minutes was all it took for Chinese smartphone manufacturers Xiaomi’s first phone in Malaysia to sell out.
Xiaomi’s $250 smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 3 went for sale on 20th May in Xiaomi’s web store in Malaysia and the phones sold out in less than 20 minutes. And if rumors are to be believed, 4,000 units were sold within 17 minutes though this digit lacks official confirmation. These numbers might seem small but considering that Xiaomi is yetto bring its bet smartphone, the RedMi to Malaysian market yet, these numbers seem quite impressive.
Xiaomi’s president held a press conference on 19th May and said that the delay in launching the RedMi was due to the fact that its successor, the RedMi 1S will be launched next month. The RedMi 1S will come with a Snapdragon 4oo processor. Xiaomi has plans to expand its market outside China, and it has been quite successful so far is the Asian countries that it has stepped into.
