Apple recently launched the iPad Mini 2 and really created a fuss on the Tablet market. But let us see how the device compares with the most successful tablet of the year so far, the Nexus 7 2013 version. Let’s start Apple Mini 2 vs Nexus 7 (2013).

Build and Design:

The Dimensions of the Asus Nexus 7 second generation are 200X114X8.7, means that the tablet is about 8.7 mm thick. While the iPad Mini 2 has dimensions 200X134X7.5, so pretty evident the iPad Mini 2 is about more than 1mm more thin than the Nexus 7 (2013). The Nexus 7 weighs about 290 grams (Wi-Fi version) and about 299 grams (LTE version). While the iPad Mini 2 weighs around 331 grams (Wi-Fi version) and 341 grams (3G/LTE version). So here the Nexus 7 is a bit lighter and the iPad mini 2 is about a little thinner. So there is no winner here.

Display:

The Nexus 7 has a 7 inches of LED- Backlit IPS LCD display with a resolution of about 1200X1920 pixels. While on the other hand the iPad Mini 2 has 7.9 inches of LED- Backlit IPS LCD display with a display resolution of about 1536X2048 pixels. Also the pixel density of the Nexus 7 is 323 pixels per inch, while that of the iPad Mini 2 is about 324 pixels per inch.

Winner: iPad Mini 2

Memory:

The Nexus 7 2013 version comes with Internal memory of 16/32 GB while the iPad Mini comes with 16/32/64/128 GB. While both being non expandable, the iPad Mini 2 offers more range of internal memory to choose from. The Nexus 7 has about 2 GB of RAM while the iPad Mini 2 has only 1 GB of RAM.

Connectivity:

The Nexus 7 and iPad Mini 2 have both GPRS and Edge options. Nexus 7 has speed of about HSPA+ and LTE while the iPad Mini 2 has DS-HSDPA, HSDPA, HSUPA and LTE. So clearly the iPad Mini 2 has more connectivity options here. While the Wi-Fi speeds being the same for the both devices. But one thing to note that the Nexus 7 has NFC option while the iPad Mini 2 does not have NFC options. So we’re calling it a draw once again.

Camera:

Nexus7 has a  primary camera of about 5 megapixels with a resolution of about 2592X1944 pixels qith autofocus, and the iPad Mini 2 also has a 5 megapixel camera with a resolution of about 2592X1944 pixels, also with autofocus feature. Both have features like Geo-Tagging, touch focus, face detection. Both can record videos at 1080p@30 fps but the iPad Mini 2 also has a video stabilization feature. Similarly both of them have 1.2 megapixels of secondary shooters  and can record 720p@30 fps, but the iPad Mini 2 has FaceTime over Wi-Fi or Cellular. So here the camera of the iPad Mini 2 wins marginally.

Processor :

The Nexus 7 runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4Pro with 1.5 GHz Quad Core Krait processor. While on the other hand the iPad Mini 2 runs on the Apple A7 with 1.3GHz Dual Core Cyclone (ARM v8 based).  Also the Nexus 7 runs on the Adreno 320 GPU while the iPad has PowerVR G6430.

Winner: Nexus 7

Battery:

Nexus 7 has a non-removable Li-Ion battery with a power of 3950 mAh, which gives 9 hours of talktime (multimedia), while the iPad Mini 2 has a Non removable Li-Po battery of 23.8Wh and gives a talktime of 10 hours (multimedia).

Well the Nexus 7 is available for $229 and ipad Mini 2 starts from $399 and goes onto $899. So overall its not fair deal if you buying a iPad Mini 2. Also if you are looking for customization and third party apps of different kinds than no one can beat Nexus 7 which runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat.
