Today Andy Rubin at Economic Summit in Tokyo states that Android was originally developed for Smart Cameras which can easily sync images to PCs. But the cell Phone popularity changed its original motive and he reworled it for phones.
In real Andy wants to make platform which can automatically sync images or photos to cloud servers and he also showed off some slides which he presented to investors in April 2004. Android’s co-founder Andy Rubin said, “The exact same platform, the exact same operating system we built for cameras, that became Android for cellphones.”
But his mind set changed after the digital camera market slowed down and after 5 months he transformed Android to be an”open-source handset solution.” He also quoted about competition in Mobile field at that time as he said that, “We decided digital cameras wasn’t actually a big enough market,” said Rubin. “I was worried about Microsoft and I was worried about Symbian, I wasn’t worried about iPhone yet.”
Actually he wanted to run Android on many phones so instead of charging $99, or $59, or $69, to Android, he gave it away for free.
Recently, Rubin stepped down from Android program and started developing new product in the Google. Now Sundar Pichai is heading Android.
