Samsung is briskly performing the update process to all its mid-range and high-end smartphones or tablets. The Korean giant has already rolled out its Android 11 based One UI 3.1 skin to numerous of its Galaxy S, M, and A series handsets including Galaxy A80, A71, and more. Now, the next device for the series to grab the latest package is Galaxy A40.

Currently, the build is available for model no SM-A405FM in Russia and can be identified with firmware version A405FMPUU3CUC2. Whereas, it can be spotted for the SM-A405FN variant in Germany which bears the version number A405FNXXU3CUC2. Also, the bump in the UI version is accompanied by the latest March 2021 security patch level.
The interesting thing is that the update will not change the bootloader version. That means, if you face any issue or if you don’t like the new version, you will still be to downgrade to an older Android 10-based firmware.
If we talk about features, the One UI 3.1 adds on to the One UI 3.0 attributes by providing the ability to remove GPS location from images, updated gallery, new camera features, private share, eye comfort shield, smart device control, enhancements in the calendar/ reminders app and mainly, the ability to auto-switch between phone and Galaxy Buds.
The OTA update for Galaxy A40 will reach out to your smartphone shortly in the form of a pop-up notification.

Galaxy A40 was announced in March 2019 powering Android 9.0 (Pie) and Exynos 7904 chipset out of the box.
