It wasn’t long ago that we saw Twitter testing 280 character tweets soon to go live for all. The social media for the elite had faced some criticism with the new change as people expressed concerns that the experience would get worse. But now, Twitter is actually rolling out the new limit for all users.
However, don’t get too discouraged as Twitter has some good statistics to prove that the move won’t be that bad. Earlier, Twitter’s product manager Aliza Rosen explained why they were moving to 280 characters. Today’s permanent update comes with some statistical proofs that you might want to look at.
“Only 5% of Tweets sent were longer than 140 characters and only 2% were over 190 characters. As a result, your timeline reading experience should not substantially change, you’ll still see about the same amount of Tweets in your timeline.” said the blog post.
Hence, the fears of timelines getting too much crammed should be less of a concern. However, Twitter also expects the 280 character limit to be used more after the global rollout initially. But that frenzy will soon subside. If you want to read today’s official blog post from Twitter, hit the source link below.
